Most floor tile jobs are one or two days of on-site work. Lab analysis takes 3–5 business days if testing hasn't been done. Then there's the 10-working-day EGLE notification window. Total elapsed time from 'yes, schedule it' to clearance is usually 2–3 weeks for planned renovation projects.

Does homeowner's insurance cover asbestos abatement?

Sometimes — particularly when asbestos was disturbed by a covered loss like a water leak, fire, or storm damage. Routine pre-renovation removal is usually the homeowner's expense. Do I need to leave the house during abatement?

For most non-friable jobs (floor tile, siding), you can stay in another part of the house with the work area sealed off.
